DESCRIPTION:How do events like the shootings of unarmed black males such as, Trayvon
Martin, Michael Brown, Oscar Grant and many others reflect on the status of
the legal system in modern day America? How do policies like New York's
"Stop & Frisk" and Florida's "Stand Your Ground" relate to the concept of a
"post-racial society"? \n\nOn Tuesday, February 27th at 7pm at the College
Nine and Ten Multipurpose Room, the College Ten CoCurricular Program will
present Deconstructing Ferguson: A Panel Discussion on Racial Profiling,
the Justice System, and Community Solutions. The panel will include
Sociology Professor Hiroshi Fukurai, Community Organizer Ashley Yates,
Santa Cruz Barrios Unidos Founder Nane Alejandre, and UCSC African Black
Student Alliance (A/BSA) member Jocqui Smollett. The panel will be
moderated by Dr. David Anthony. The event will shed light to the underlying
history and current socio/economic condition that has led to massive
protest throughout nation.\n\nLet's join together as a community and engage
 in constructive conversations!\n
