DESCRIPTION:Come to a solution-oriented forum presented by\nBerkeley Citizens Action 
 with Berkeley NAACP.\n\nThe 2011 report from the African 
 American/Black\nBusiness, Professional and Community Network\n(AABPCN) and 
 the report from the 2013 Berkeley\nNAACP Town Hall Meeting addressed 
 inequities\nand disparities for African Americans, low-income\npopulations 
 and other marginalized groups in\nBerkeley. They outlined numerous 
 recommendations\nfor housing, education, employment,\ncriminal justice and 
 health/mental health.\n\nAlso, CopWatch, the Peace and Justice Commission 
 and\nPolice Review Commission all have solution-based\nreports and/or 
 council items that address some of\nthe same problems. Councilmember Jesse 
 Arreguin\nhas several measures ready to present to council\nand other 
 council members are preparing items.\n\nThe purpose of our 
 #BlackLivesMatter Forum is to\nidentify recommendations for action, first 
 with\npanelists, and then in breakout groups; to develop\nan Action Plan 
 which BCA and allied groups will\nadvocate for with politicians and 
 political\ncandidates in the coming year.\n\nJoin us on February 21st, the 
 50th anniversary of\nthe assassination of El Hajj Malik El-Shabazz,\nwidely 
 known by his previous chosen name\nMalcolm X\n\n\n
