DESCRIPTION:On December 9, 1981, Mumia Abu-Jamal was arrested and accused of killing a
Philadelphia cop in an incident in which he himself was severely wounded.
He was subsequently convicted in a trial that provoked international outcry
for it’s unfair and unjust proceedings. Mumia was then held in isolation
on Death Row for the next 30 years. Mumia is no longer on death row - but
remains in prison under a sentence of life without parole. He has remained
a steadfast voice for social justice and revolution from within the prison
walls. \n\nJoin us for a screening of ‘Long Distance Revolutionary: A
Journey with Mumia Abu-Jamal’ on December 10th. \n\nThe film is “an
inspiring portrait of a man that many consider America’s most famous
political prisoner - a man whose very existence tests our beliefs about
justice and freedom. Through prison interviews, archival footage, dramatic
readings, as well as a potent chorus of historic voices, this riveting film
explores Mumia’s life before, during and after Death Row.”\n\n
