 cinema, the cinematograph was perceived as a novelty trend for upper class 
 audiences. Soon, trivial short films were being shown as fairground 
 attractions aimed at the working and lower-middle class. The booths in 
 which these films were shown were known in Germany somewhat disparagingly 
 as “Kintopps”.\n\nLater, German expressionists were known as innovators 
 for their creative usage of Mise-en-scene and camera movement. Animators 
 and directors of experimental film such as Lotte Reiniger, Svend Noldan and 
 the lesser known works of John Hagenbeck were also very active in Germany 
 in the 1920s. \n\nThis edition of Cheap Thrills! features very rare German 
 home movies, early animated films, Bergfilm landscape shorts, and the 
 dazzling documentary “Fahrt ins Land der Wunder und Wolken” by German 
 aviator, aerial explorer, author, and filmmaker: Gunther Plüschow and much
