DESCRIPTION:Dana Cafe: Room At The Table - A Gathering and Ceremony! Sunday November 
 2nd!\n\nDana Cafe is a monthly gathering in Oakland California offering 
 transformational teachings at no cost to participants. Each month on 1st 
 Sunday Dana Cafe invites different social change educators, teachers and 
 facilitators from various arts and healing traditions to lead a session.  
 Our monthly classes are offered for Dana (give as you able and inspired) 
 and there is no set fee to attend.\n\n“The life of the dead is placed in 
 the memory of the living.”\n~ Marcus T. Cicero\n\nGather with supportive 
 community at Dana Cafe as we celebrate and honor departed friends & family. 
 We'll create a collective altar with candles, flowers, photos, artwork, 
 treats and special objects. During this celebratory ritual, we'll share 
 stories, memories, joy, grief, songs and food! Connecting with loved ones 
 and ancestor in this supportive way is something that can feed and nourish 
 us deeply on many levels.\n\nThis special day of ritual and celebration is 
 one that indigenous people have been practicing for at least 3000 years. 
 Some of our relatives in the past viewed death as the continuation of life. 
 They used skulls to symbolize death and rebirth and to honor the dead. 
 Instead of fearing death, they embraced it. To them, life was a dream and 
 only in death did they become truly awake. This time of honoring has gone 
 by many names in many cultures - All Souls Day, Samhain and Mexico's Dia de 
 los Muertos to name a few. Today, similarly themed celebrations appear in 
 many Asian and African cultures as well as in Brazil, Spain, Guatemala, 
 Ecuador, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Ireland and 
 others. \n\nBe prepared to share a bit about your loved ones or a relative 
 that has passed. You can use one of your altar objects to inspire you. If 
 you're called, please bring instruments and a light snack to 
 share!\n\nItems to bring for the altar (bring what calls to 
 you):\n•candles\n•fresh flowers or flower petals\n•photographs of 
 loved ones along with other memorabilia\n•the favorite foods and drinks 
 of your loved ones\n•other items\n\nThis will be an intimate time 
 together filled with lightheartedness and love!\n\nThis gathering is 
 offered for dana (give as you are able and inspired)\nPlease arrive at 
 least 15 minutes early\nDress comfortably and bring a water 
 bottle\n\nPublic Transportation\nMacArthur BART Station\nAC Bus lines 1,
