DESCRIPTION:Talk by Bassem Tamimi, a leader of West Bank villagers struggling to stop
the theft of Palestinian land, water and future.\nBassem Tamimi was 10
weeks old when Israel invaded and began occupying the West Bank in 1967.
He hid with his mother in a cave during Israel’s attack. \nA grassroots
activist, he began organizing weekly demonstrations five years ago to
protest the seizure by Israel of the well belonging to his village, Nabi
Salih. \nTamimi, whose home has been slated for demolition by Israel's
Civil Administration, has been arrested by the Israeli authorities over a
dozen times, at one point spending more than three years in administrative
detention without trial. The European Union has described him as a "human
rights defender". \nAbout this work Tamimi says: "Our strategic choice of a
popular struggle -- as a means to fight the occupation taking over our
lands, lives and future -- is a declaration that we do not harm human
lives. The very essence of our activity opposes killing." \nFMI:
