DESCRIPTION:Join Black and Pink as we have a night of spa fun, spoken word poetry and
music to raise funds for our advocacy work towards LGBTQIA individuals in
the prison industrial complex.\n\nEvery little bit helps, \nEvery donation
will go directly towards the post office box, postage, postcards and
materials for our postcard potluck parties
 \n\nPerformer\n\n***********Alexis Lillian Lefranc************\n\n\nBlack &
 Pink-San Diego Safe(r) Space Policy\n\nBlack & Pink-San Diego hosts spaces
that identifies as Safe(r) Space. We ask everyone that attends to be aware
of their language and behavior, and to think about whether it might be
harmful to others. \n\nOppressive behavior as any conduct that demeans,
marginalizes, rejects, threatens or harms anyone on the basis of ability,
activist experience, age, economic and cultural background, education,
ethnicity, gender identity, immigration status, language, housing status,
nationality, physical appearance, race, religion, self-expression, sexual
orientation, status as a parent or other such factors.\n\nThe goal in
hosting these events is to promote critical thought and dialog around an
issue. We believe in education before action, and want to challenge
ourselves to be open-minded. People come to our space from different
backgrounds. In acknowledging institutional oppression, we acknowledge that
we as individuals often repeat cycles of oppression, whether intentionally
or not. Not everyone is familiar with the language we use, and no one is
perfect. In order to engage in accountability and growth, we have to be
coming from a place where we assume that people are trying their hardest.
\n\nWith this in mind we also believe in accountability. We approach
accountability as something that consciously occurs when individuals can
learn from others and are mindful of what is said and how it is said and
how it impacts others. If you are unwilling to work in a framework of
accountability then we may not be the right space for you. Seriously, words
and actions matter. Working within this framework here are some quick and
 easy general guidelines:\n\nGeneral Guidelines\n\nRespect peoples’
opinions, beliefs, experiences and differing points of view.\nRespect
everyone’s identity and background, including pronouns and names. Do not
assume anyone’s gender identity, sexual preference, race, ethnicity,
ability, survivor status, economic status, background, health, etc.
\nRespect everyone’s physical and emotional boundaries. Check in in
before discussing topics that may be triggering (e.g. sexual abuse,
physical violence or encounters with police, substance use, etc.), and use
trigger warnings. Please ask for consent prior to engaging any form of
physical contact. By first asking for permission, we are opening up space
for others to tell us what they are comfortable with and ensure that we do
not cross a line with regard to their boundaries, safety and comfort.
\n\nBlack & Pink-San Diego will not be providing alcohol or other
substances at our events. We respect the desire for people to consume
alcoholic beverages in social settings and the need for some to use medical
cannabis and we do not want to infringe upon that. We do ask that you be
mindful when offering others alcohol or cannabis. Some people may be
triggered by being offered these substances (whether it be dependency
related or otherwise), so please be mindful of the comfort level of the
environment when using these substances. Designated area may be provided at
our events.\n\nIf you’re confused about how to honor any of the
guidelines…ask!\n\nYou may be asked to leave if:\n-You do not adhere to
our Safe(r) Space Policy\n-You are being discriminatory in any way\n-You
are interfering with the work of any of our dedicated organizers\n\nTHANK
YOU FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE CREATION OF SAFE(R) SPACES AND A BETTER WORLD!
 WITH LOVE AND SOLIDARITY!\n
