DESCRIPTION:Dana Cafe is a monthly gathering in Oakland California offering
transformational teachings at no cost to participants. Each month on 1st
Sunday Dana Cafe invites different social change educators, teachers and
facilitators from various arts and healing traditions to lead a session.
Our monthly classes are offered for Dana (give as you able and inspired)
and there is no set fee to attend.\n\nOn July 6th, Brenda Salgado (Center
Director of East Bay Meditation Center) will be teaching on Harmonization
with Roses, wisdom she received from Grandmother Amalia from Xochimilco
Mexico, during the Festival of Traditional Medicine in Mexico where she is
a student and volunteer translator. Grandmother Amalia is a skilled
curandera, healer and a fierce defender of Sacred Corn, indigenous medicine
and the wisdom of her ancestors. During our workshop we will be connecting
with the healing medicine of roses, by:\n\n1. Learning how to make rose
water for personal use\n2. Learning how to do a "limpia" or personal
energetic harmonization with roses\n3.Learning how to work with roses to do
an energetic cleansing of your home \n\nIf you are able to, please bring a
small jar with lid (8 oz jelly jar is a good size). I will bring a few just
in case someone forgets theirs. Each participant will leave with some rose
water to take home, and a handout on the information presented.\n\nAbout
Brenda:\nI am first generation Nicaraguan-American, born and raised in the
San Francisco Bay Area. I am grateful to my parents and my ancestors for
instilling in me the values and teachings that have led me to cultural,
spiritual and social justice work. My ancestor lineage on both sides of my
family includes members who practiced traditional medicine in Nicaragua,
though much of this medicine was lost to more recent generations in my
family. As an adult, I have received training from elders in Purepecha
traditional healing, Xochimilco traditional healing with roses, and herbal
medicine and ceremony from various teachers here in the U.S. and in Central
America. I extend deep gratitude to my ancestors, elders and teachers for
their guidance and support on this path. Through Nepantla Consulting, I
provide healing sessions, workshops and officiate ceremonies. I founded
Moons Rising Circle, which meets on the New Moon and Full Moon every month
in San Leandro, and helped to found First Wednesdays Healing Circle, a
project of Unity San Leandro that provides free healing services once a
month (pranic healing, reflexology, limpias, EFT, limpias,
etc.\n\nhttp://www.nepantlaconsulting.com/\n\nDana Cafe is held at Temescal
