DESCRIPTION:Saturday, 4/19, 2014, 7-9pm: \nMission musicians unite to save Modern
Times! \nGround-breaking, down-to-earth and inspired Mission musicians
come together to bring you a cornucopia of musical celebration. Together,
we can save Modern Times Bookstore in the heart of our neighborhood!
With:\nBeauty Operators String Band\nMasters of the Obvious (jazz)\nJulie
Dillon of Mama Elephant (folk)\nSupervisor John Avalos’ legislative aide,
Jeremy Pollock, handles the lead vocals for the Beauty Operators, who bring
a deep love of bluegrass music and a fun-loving spirit, playing traditional
 bluegrass, alt-grass, punk-grass, cry-in-your-beer-grass & the occasional
80s pop cover.\n \nThe mysterious, dynamic, jazz of the Masters of the
Obvious brings a joyous, old-school SF sound to Modern Times, with a touch
of spoken word. This is a must-see for lovers of John Coltrane and the
jazz poetry of the beatnik era. With Steve Munger (pictured) & Jamie
Sanbonmatsu.\nJulie Dillon helped inspire Matt Gonzalez’ energenic
campaign volunteers during the 2003 mayoral race, by opening most of his
campaign events. An SF folksinger & songwriter, Julie plays a collection
of gritty waltzes, whispered stories, and sassy rock songs culled from her
personal and vicarious life experiences. Dillon’s former non-profit,
Mama Elephant, provided valuable resources to struggling local musicians
 for many
 years.\nLinks:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/BeautyOperators\nhttps://www.youtube.com/TheBeautyOperators\njuliedillon.net\nsoundcloud.com/mastersoftheobvious\n\nSuggested
Donations: $20-$50; no one turned away for lack of funds\n\n
