DESCRIPTION:The Struggle for People’s Agrarian Reform in Brazil\nA report from the
6th National Congress of Brazil’s Landless Workers Movement\n\nBrazil’s
Landless Workers Movement, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra
(MST) in Portuguese, is a mass social movement, formed by rural workers and
by all those who want to fight for land reform and against injustice and
social inequality in rural areas.\n\nWith a presence in 23 states of Brazil
and with more than 900 settlements with 150 thousand families, the MST
celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. In early February, fifteen
thousand delegates from all over Brazil arrived in buses and camped outside
the National Stadium in Brasilia to take part in the movement’s 6th
National Congress.\n\nPeace & Justice Center Board member Charlotte Casey
attended the Congress and will report on developments in the struggle for
political, economic, environmental and cultural rights in the Brazilian
 countryside. \n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2014/03/03/18751836.php
