DESCRIPTION:American military exercises and deployment of strategic military equipment 
 in Asia and the Pacific has increased substantially as the war on Iraq 
 ended and the war on Afghanistan winds down. This pivot to Asia includes 
 U.S. pressure on Japan to abandon its remarkable “No War” 
 Constitutional Article 9, to allow the U.S. to fly long-range Global Hawk 
 spy drones from a base in Japan, and the building of a U.S. military base 
 on Jeju Island in South Korea, destroying the livelihoods and environment 
 on that UNESCO heritage site. Col. Wright will speak about her recent trip 
 to Northeast Asia, Jeju Island, , and eight days on the PEACE BOAT 
 traveling to South Korea, Taiwan, and  PR China. Peace Boat is a 
 Japan-based international non-governmental and non-profit organization that 
 works to promote peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development, 
 and respect for the environment. \n\nCol. Wright is a nationally known 
 peace and justice activist, writer and organizer, as well as a fabulous 
 speaker. Her talks are lively, understandable and energizing.  She served 
 nearly three decades as an officer in the US military before becoming a
