DESCRIPTION:Po'Boys Kitchen premiers March 7th & 8th at the De Anza High School
Theater.\n\nThe central character of “Po’Boys Kitchen” is a corner
store restaurant named Po'Boys Kitchen, a black-owned business located in
the heart of Richmond. The daily drama of life in Po'Boys includes the
homeless, the prostitutes, the drug dealers, the crack addicts, as well as
neighborhood families. Some come for Po'Boys' signature
butter-me-up-cornbread and Big Mama’s southern lemonade; some stop in to
talk trash, crack jokes, or gossip about daily news. Some, like Sabrina and
Taylor, a young prostitute and a drug dealer, come seeking wisdom and
redemption, a clean slate where they can re-write themselves. Will they
find the courage to transform their futures or will the ghosts of their
pasts pull them back? For most people, Po’Boys is more than a convenience
store, but a place that saves lives.\n\nHere is a link to the video
 trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quIllSB6BT8\n\nThe script of
"Po’Boys Kitchen" will be published as a book with VOLUME Youth Poetry
Project's Red Beard Press, a youth-run publishing press in Ann Arbor,
Michigan. The book will be released the night of the play. Come support the
 voices of Richmond youth!\n
