the Wendy's Founder's Week - National Week of Action, this will be a
demonstration and letter delivery that all are welcome to (more details on
the National Week of Action and Wendy's Campaign below). Please consider
sending a delegation (2+ people) from your organization (or come just as
yourself)!\n\nPlease DO NOT park in the Wendy's parking lot. \n\nFor

THE WENDY'S CAMPAIGN AND FAIR FOOD PROGRAM:\n\nEvery year, Wendy's
celebrates "Founder's Week" - a week during which they celebrate the values
that Dave Thomas founded the company on. \n\nAll across the nation, cities
and Fair Food groups will be organizing actions throughout the week –
including letter deliveries, marches, and protests to highlight the fact
that Dave Thomas’ values stand in stark contradiction to Wendy’s
current refusal to join the Fair Food Program. There are already actions
planned in over a dozen cities nationwide – from D.C. to Columbus, OH –
sending the message that Wendy’s rejection of a verifiable solution to
ensure human rights for farmworkers undermines the values the company
espouses. \n\nThe Student/Farmworker Alliance is made up of students,
youth, people of faith, and community members organizing in solidarity with
the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) to strengthen the Fair Food
Program and build a Fair Food Nation.\n\nThe Fair Food program has been
recognized internationally and nationally (recently by the White House, the
United Nations and the Roosevelt Institute) as one of the most effective
campaigns fighting modern-day slavery and promoting worker’s rights that
exists today. Today, the CIW has successfully signed with 11 corporations,
including: Taco Bell (Yum! Brands), McDonald's, Burger King, Subway,
Chipotle, Sodexo, Bon Appetit, Aramark, Compass group, Whole Foods and
Trader Joe’s.\n\nHowever, Wendy’s has refused to sign on to the Fair
Food Program. If all the other corporations listed above have signed on,
then why not Wendy’s?\n\nIf you can’t attend the demonstration, please
consider donating a small amount to support SFA’s efforts to build a Fair
Food Nation!\n\nFor questions contact: elisa@sfalliance.org and for more
information about the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, visit:
