DESCRIPTION:(this is the letter we are bringing to the forum after the press conference
with Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, and State
 Senator Jim Beall)\n\n\nNovember 1st, 2013\n\nHonorable Congresswoman,
\n\nWe the Students of the Save CCSF Coalition thank you for your presence
here as we struggle to keep the integrity of our City College (and all
California community colleges) intact. We know we are not the first or the
last ones in this fight, and we call on you, as we have called on the
community, for support. \n \nVoters of San
Francisco have passed Prop A (and the state of California has passed Prop
30, and 32,) to provide CCSF with funding adequate to prevent cuts to
classes, services, and faculty. Despite this, cuts have taken place in the
name of a "financial crisis". Special trustee Robert Agrella has been
appointed due to the "Show Cause" sanction by the Accreditation Commission
for Junior Colleges, (the ACCJC). Since Dr. Agrella came into office,
disaster has struck. Our board of democratically elected trustees no longer
have decision making power, and these cuts have taken place behind closed
doors. Our mission statement has been changed. Cultural Enrichment, Life
Long Learning, citizen preparation, G.E.D., and life skills have been
removed from our Mission statement. This dismantles our vision as a
community college. \n\nOn top of all this, a new chancellor has been hired.
His name is Arthur Tyler, and he was appointed special trustee of Compton
College after it was put on the "Show Cause" sanction by the ACCJC. Compton
College was dismantled, so in essence, this guy failed. He should not be
our chancellor.\n\nWe must keep City College in the hands of San
Francisco!\n\nThis can be done by getting our College Board of Trustee's
back. We don't want public education jeopardized any longer by the ACCJC,
which is a rogue agency that plucks education from the public sector. They
should be shut down. As you work with your colleagues in Congress on a
budget for 2013-2014, please make sure there is enough money for higher
education so that City College of San Francisco has the resources it needs
to provide an excellent education for everyone in San Francisco who needs
it. Please help us save our school, our community, and our San Francisco.
\n\nWith Gratitude, \n\nThe Students of the Save CCSF Coalition. \n
