practices of Judaism. In this retreat we consider Jewish (and maybe some
Buddhist!) teachings on love and compassion and how we can work with them
to open up our lives. Practice sitting and walking meditation, engage in
contemplative prayer, and listen to talks by Makor Or teachers Norman
Fischer and Rabbi Jonathan Slater.\n\nThis retreat includes a ticket for a
book talk by Norman Fischer.\n\nAbout the Instructors:\n\nNorman Fischer is
the spiritual leader of Makor Or, a Zen master, founder of Everyday Zen and
a poet. His books include Jerusalem Moonlight, Taking Our Places, Sailing
Home, and Question/Places /Voices/Seasons.\n\nRabbi Jonathan Slater is a
renowned teacher of mindfulness meditation and a leading authority on, and
translator of, classical Hasidic masters. For many years, he served as
rabbi at Congregation Beth Ami in Santa Rosa and currently is Co-Director
of Programs of the Jewish Spirituality Institute. He is the author of
