DESCRIPTION:On July 8th 30,000 prisoners went on a hunger strike to bring attention to
the inhumane conditions & torture of people locked up for 5, 10, 15 and in
one person's case 42 years in solitary confinement for 23 hours per day in
a 11' x 7' cell. The cells are concrete coffins with only enough room to
pace for 3 steps. The only human contact for most in these special housing
units (SHU) is when they are being handcuffed by CDCR guards. \n\nAfter a
Federal judge ruled that CDCR can force feed prisoners the Prisoners
decided to suspend the strike, Not end it.\n\nThe Prisoners have 5 demands:
\n1) Eliminate group punishment & administrative abuse.\n2) Abolish the
debriefing policy & modify active/inactive gang status criteria.\n3) Comply
with the recommendations of the US Commission on Safety and Abuse in
America's Prisons recommendations and END LONG-TERM SOLITARY
CONFINEMENT.\n4) Provide adequate and nutritious food. \n5) Create and
 expand constructive programming.\n\n THE STRUGGLE
 CONTINUES.....Pick Up The Baton!\n
