DESCRIPTION:Come meet your neighbors, have a cookie, and find out more about the
desalination plant proposed to be built here on the Westside of Santa Cruz,
with pumping station sites along West Cliff Drive (one site in Trolley
Park). \n\nFun facts:\n\n•	Once the proposed desalination plant is
online, Westside residents will be drinking the desalinated water while the
water we drink today will be pumped to Soquel Creek Water District
residents.\n\n•	The desalination plant project is estimated to cost $130
million to build with no mention of the cost required to
maintain.\n\n•	Santa Cruz County residents will pay for this increased
cost of water with higher water bills and higher taxes. \n\n•	Many local
and national experts think there are viable, less expensive and more
environmentally safe alternatives to conserve and manage our water
throughout the year, which increases our water supply.\n\nStop by the Park
at West Cliff Drive & Woodrow on August 10th from 4:30 - 6 pm. Cookies and
drinks will be provided. Rick Longinotti will be joining us from Desal
Alternatives to talk about the project. \n\nBring: A chair, jacket (in
case of fog)\n\n\nCheck out a 9-minute film, Water for Santa
 Cruz:\nhttp://wateraware.net/waterforsantacruz\n\n
