DESCRIPTION:HEY SANTA CRUZ - LET'S MARCH!\nWill you March with us July 4th to label
GMOs?\n\nWe are joining with a big country-wide march called Moms Across
America March (MAAM) to Label GMOs. (You don't have to be a mom to join in
on the fun, and pet moms and pets are welcome too!) See all events & more
 info here: http://www.momsacrossamerica.com/events_all\nWe're having a
local MAAM in the APTOS JULY 4th PARADE. We would love for people of all
ages to join us! Kids can ride tricycles and we'll be making noise makers
for the kids.\n\nIF YOU CAN COMMIT TO MARCHING OR DONATING,\nthen please
 email (gmofreesc@gmail.com) if possible.\nHERE'S THE DETAILS:\nMEETING
TIME: We meet on July 4th between 9 and 9:30 am\nCheck in for the parade is
in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Bank on Soquel Ave. in Aptos. That is
where the “line-up” for the parade begins. The line-up then extends
back along Mesa Drive all the way to Vienna Drive. Vienna Drive is located
off of Soquel Ave..The parade officials are asking participants to enter
from Vienna Drive and stage on Mesa Drive.(see map) \n\nWHY SUCH A LONG
"LINE-UP"? Because, although this is the WORLD’S SHORTEST PARADE -- there
are LOTS of people, groups, etc. that join it. The order we line up in to
march in the parade is determined by first-come-first-serve. So we (Tarah
and I) will probably be there closer to 9am (or maybe earlier). Whatever
time you get there, you should be able to find us in the line-up. We will
have a Moms Across America March banner and signs, and some of us will be
wearing white and red t-shirts that were made for the march.\n\nPARKING:
The Parade Line-Up Map shows some “no-parking” areas. Our understanding
is that we can park wherever there aren’t “no parking” signs - in the
neighborhoods, etc. It would be a good idea to carpool! \n\nWHY DO WE
MARCH?\nOver 2 million people from around the world (Santa Cruz included)
came out to March Against Monsanto last Saturday - and the response was
amazing! \n\nMarches like this are bringing awareness to the public, many
of whom had no idea of what a GMO is. After Saturday's global march, search
engines like Google were inundated with users "googling" "GMO" and "what is
a GMO?" \n\nAnd one day after the march, the New York Times ran an article
titled: \n“Seeking Food Ingredients That Aren’t Gene-Altered” which
said that food companies big and small are struggling to replace
genetically modified ingredients with conventional ones - in response to
consumer demand.\n\nWE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE! \nJust as with the March
Against Monsanto, the July 4th MAAM march will be an opportunity for so
many people from the Santa Cruz area to learn about GMOs all at once! And
remember...MONSANTO’S GREATEST ENEMY IS AN INFORMED PUBLIC! \n\nMarch
