DESCRIPTION:Home Front Heroes And The Role of Black Workers \nWith Betty Reid Soskin\n
Betty Reid Soskin who is now a US Park Ranger at the Rosie The Riveter
Education Center saw the segregation against black workers in the shipyards
where she worked during the World War II. Tens of thousands of not only
black workers but also women were able to get decent paying jobs for the
first time but they faced discriminatory treatment and had to fight for
their rights.\n This discrimination continued after the war when they were
laid off and other workers were rehired to replace them. Soskin was there
face to face with this history and will be screening some videos about
these issues. She will also be joining the LaborFest Maritime boat trip on
 July 21.\nSee
