DESCRIPTION:The SF Mime Troupe has been performing in the parks of San Francisco, the
East Bay and beyond for decades, having come from the Actor's Workshop in
1959. Its program always starts with music by a live band at 1 p.m. On
the 4th of July, we are treated to the irreverent version of the Star
Spangled Banner by Jimi Hendrix and an opening act by the gay men's theater
group, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. This event is an old San Francisco
favorite that can be enjoyed by the whole family with a picnic, and it is
free.\n\nOil and Water - SF Mime Troupe \nOIL & WATER is actually two
shorter plays - CRUDE INTENTIONS and DEAL WITH THE DEVIL \nClimate change,
pollution, water scarcity, and fossil fuel dependence, and issues too big
to be dealt with in just one story, so this year’s Mime Troupe production
presents two one-act musicals linked by environmental themes depicting the
abusive relationships society has with our natural resources and the
lengths we go to satisfy our thirsts. \n A poisoned rainforest river, a
senator mysteriously murdered in his office, a sinister criminal
conspiracy, and an oil refinery ablaze in the Bay Area – with the
survival of the human race in question, the stakes could not be any
 higher.\nSee
