DESCRIPTION: One of Cuba's foremost poets, Nancy Morejón is President of the Writers 
 Section of the Cuban Union of Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and was recently 
 awarded Cuba's National Literature Prize. Morejón is a full member of the 
 Cuban Academy of Language. She was born in 1944 and grew up in an old 
 neighborhood of Havana, where the Spanish built their first settlement in 
 the new world. Nancy Morejón is a poet of Havana and its people.\n \nHer 
 published works include Mutismos; Amor, cíudad atribuída; Richard trajo 
 su flauta; Parajes de una época; Octubre imprescindible; Cuarderno de 
 Granada; El río de Martín Pérez y otros poemas; and Nación y mestizaje 
 en Nicolás Guillén.\n \nHer work has been translated into many languages. 
 She has also translated poetry by Paul Eluard, Jacques Roumain and Aimé 
 Césaire. She studied Language and French Literature at the University of
