 Communication Management Units, self-contained groups at the United States 
 Federal Bureau of Prisons. CMUs are filled predominately with Muslim 
 inmates and phone calls, visits, and all communications with the outside 
 world are severely restricted. Rights groups charge that the units 
 constitute cruel and unusual punishment and have filed lawsuits accusing 
 the facilities of some of the same due process complaints raised by 
 Guantanamo detainees.\n
