DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Living Plastic-Free\n\nMany of us have heard about the
problems with plastic -- polluting our oceans and beaches and harming our
health with toxic chemicals. But what can one person do to be part of the
solution? Join us for an evening of inspiring stories and practical tips
about ways to reduce plastic in your home and on the planet. Author Beth
Terry will share her journey from self-confessed plastic addict to
empowered plastic-free activist and explain why we can't just recycle our
way out of this mess. Beth Terry's book, Plastic-Free: How I Kicked the
Plastic Habit and How You Can Too will be available for purchase and
signing at the end of the event. \n\nBeth Terry's Bio: After learning about
the devastating effects of plastic pollution on the environment and human
health, Oakland, CA accountant Beth Terry began an experiment to see if she
could live without buying any new plastic. Since then, she has reduced her
plastic waste to less than 2% of the national average. That experiment
turned into the popular blog MyPlasticFreeLife.com and new book
Plastic-Free: How I Kicked the Plastic Habit and How You Can Too. A
founding member of the Plastic Pollution Coalition, Terry gives
presentations on plastic-free living and why, despite what some critics
assert, our personal actions really do make a difference. Her work and life
have been profiled in the award-winning film Bag It, as well as Susan
Freinkel's book, Plastic: A Toxic Love Story and Captain Charles Moore's
Plastic Ocean.\n\nThe event is free, but the park does charge $5 per
vehicle parking fee.\n\nInfo: Vinh ~ gardenlane [at] netzero [dot] net\n
