DESCRIPTION:Come and explore the world of documentary films with the United Nations
Association Film Festival (UNAFF), one of the oldest solely documentary
film festivals in the US. Founder, Stanford educator and film critic
Jasmina Bojic will discuss how films can be instrumental in changing hearts
and minds, inspiring audiences to go out and find solutions to the world's
most pressing problems.\n\nStarted as an off-shoot of the Mid-Peninsula
chapter of Eleanor Roosevelt's United Nations Association, UNAFF screens
films dealing with human rights, homelessness, racism, health, seniors,
universal education, war, refugees and peace. UNAFF has recognized some of
the most renowned documentaries of the past decade, including 5 Academy
Award winners. Join us for an illuminating and provocative evening,
including a viewing of a short film.\n\nAbout the Speaker\nJASMINA BOJIC is
a film critic and also lectures at Stanford University. Working as a
journalist for over 25 years, Bojic has covered political and cultural
events, including the Academy Awards and the Cannes, Sundance and Tribeca
film festivals. Fifteen years ago she conceptualized and organized UNAFF,
with the mission of creating a community forum for discovery and dialogue
about different cultures, issues and solutions.\n
