DESCRIPTION: “What is consumed is not the object itself, but the system of
 objects”.
                   - Charles Levin\n\n In this session we will undertake
some “theoretical production” by investigating the post-Marx
developments of consumerism. We will discuss how ‘everyday life’ in
advanced capitalist countries is distorted by the capitslist market
creating a modern (or post-modern) regime of social control. \n A good
introductory reading would be Charles Levin’s introduction to Jean
Baudrillards “For a critique of the Political Economy of the sign”.
(1981 Telos Press ltd.)\n\n Presentation and discussion led by Bob
 Patenaude, Director, Niebyl-Proctor Marxist Library.\n
