Workers National Network IWNN.org and California Coalition For Workers
Memorial Day to commemorate those workers killed on the job this past year
and those injured workers fighting for health and safety and healthcare
and justice for injured workers. From Bangladesh where over 125 mostly
women garment workers perished last year to workers who are being killed
and injured on the job in the US, workers health and safety is under
threat. There is also an epidemic of workplace bullying on the job that is
harming the health of many workers.\n\nHealth and safety in California is
also in a state of grave danger with only 160 Cal-Osha inspectors for
California's 18 million workers. The recent fire and explosion in Chevron
has exposed the complete lack of health and safety protection of not only
the workers but the communities that have been contaminated and continue to
be contaminated.\n\nWe also need to fight to defend health and safety
whistleblowers. Workers are regularly retaliated against from the oil
refineries and nuclear plants to many other jobs simply for standing up for
health and safety protections yet the bosses go off scot free with no
accountability.\n\nInjured workers now must submit their cases to secret
medical boards with no appeal and vocational rehabilitation has been
completely eliminated. Injured workers, health and safety advocates, trade
unionists and all working people and the public must stand up for a safe
workplace environment.\n\nSponsored by\nCalifornia Coalition For Workers
