 the College of San Mateo Theatre from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.\n\nIn celebration 
 of women in Arab music, Zawaya presents the Bay Area's premier Arab music 
 ensemble, Aswat, in a concert that pays tribute to two of the Arab world's 
 premier female musical legends: "The Star of East", Umm Kulthum 
 (1898/1904-1975), and "The Jewel of Lebanon", Fairuz (born 1935).\n\nThe 
 program exclusively and strictly presents only music from Umm Kulthum and 
 Fairuz, and equal attention is given to the music of both.\n\nThe concert 
 will be directed by illustrious Egyptian guest conductor, Maestro Sary 
 Dowidar. Aswat and its founding organization Zawaya invite you all to a 
 truly special afternoon of beautiful Arab music by two of its most 
 celebrated female singers.\n\n
