DESCRIPTION:ROOT DIVISION PRESENTS: Second Saturday, April 2013\n \nEdible
 Ephemera|Taste 2013 Preview\nCurator: Victoria Mara Heilweil\nSecond
Saturday Reception: Saturday, April 13, 7-10pm\n \nSAN FRANCISCO, CA - Food
can be seductive, nurturing or toxic, but it is always temporal. Edible,
living things are always in flux. When growing food, the form changes over
time from seed to plant, in cooking food we often combine and/or alter the
physical state, and in digestion food becomes nutrients and waste
materials. Food is not stable, and unless it has been transformed it will
not last.\n \nEdible Ephemera examines the fleeting temporal nature of food
through works that utilize transmutation. Each artist uses ingestibles as
initial source material, and then through processes such as alchemy,
preservation and documentation transforms the state to one more permanent.
This new state retains the essence of the original food while morphing into
 something new.\n \nArtists:\n\n \nLynne-Rachel Altman\nSita Kuratomi

ROOT DIVISION:\n\nRoot Division is a visual arts non-profit located in the
Mission District of San Francisco. Root Division's mission is to improve
appreciation and access to the visual arts by connecting personal
inspiration and community participation. We provide subsidized studio space
to working artists in exchange for their service in creating shared
learning opportunities for the community. Artists develop creatively and
professionally by teaching art to underserved youth, leading adult
education classes, and producing exhibitions that showcase local emerging
artwork. By combining multiple opportunities for creative exchange, Root
Division cultivates an artistic ecosystem that enriches life throughout the
Bay Area. \n\nRoot Division is supported in part by grants from the The
Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, San Francisco Arts Commission:
Cultural Equity Grants, Grants for the Arts: San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund,
Phyliis C. Wattis Foundation, Crescent Porter Hale Foundation, Zellerbach
Family Foundation, W A Gerbode Foundation, and Bill Graham Memorial
Fund.\n\nFor further information regarding events and/or press materials,
