DESCRIPTION:"Negro Militias" were formed during the post-U.S. Civil War Reconstruction
in the South. These state militias protected both the Black population and
the Republican state governments. Reconstruction was the original template
for U.S. nation-building and the insurgents were the KKK and the White
League. This talk will examine the role of the African-American militias
as the armed wing of Republican state governments in the Reconstruction
process and why the militias were abandoned and defeated when the North
withdrew from Reconstruction.\nPresenter: Al Sargis, Coordinator, Friedrich
Engels Institute of Marxist War and Military Analysis \n
