DESCRIPTION:Music and Dharma:  The Brahma Viharas (2-day non-residential meditation 
 retreat) with Eve Decker\n\nEnjoy traditional Buddhist sitting and walking 
 practices, interspersed with short dharma talks, poetry, music, and 
 chanting.  We will be soothing and inspiring our hearts with teachings on 
 the Brahma Viharas, the 'Divine Abodes' of Lovingkindness, Compassion, 
 Appreciative Joy, and Equanimity.  This is an opportunity to delve deeply 
 into these beautiful qualities , and replenish ourselves with meditation 
 and music.  Saturday's teachings will be on Metta (Lovingkindness) & Karuna 
 (Compassion); Sunday's teachings will be on Mudita (Appreciative Joy) & 
 Uppekha (Equanimity).\n\nNo experience required.\n\nEve Decker is a 
 nationally known performing artist. She co-founded, played, recorded and 
 toured with the feminist folk trio Rebecca Riots from 1993 until 2009 (with 
 some years off while a band member had a baby). Rebecca Riots was dubbed 
 “Best Band with a Conscience” by the San Francisco Bay Guardian in 
 1998, toured the country multiple times, released five CDs, and played 
 stages ranging from the Vancouver Folk Festival, the Bumbershoot Festival 
 in Washington, the Knitting Factory in NYC, colleges across the nation, and 
 dozens of sold out shows at Berkeley’s Freight\nand Salvage Coffee 
 House.\n\nEve is also a long term student of the dharma.  She began 
 practicing Vipassana and Metta meditation in the early 1990's.  She trained 
 in mindfulness based social action through the two year Path of Engagement 
 program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and is currently in training 
 there to become a Community Dharma Leader. \n\nThis day is freely offered 
 to all. Donations are welcome to support future offerings. Please bring a 
 vegetarian potluck dish to share for lunch, if you would like. Dress in 
 loose, warm, comfortable clothing. For the sake of those who may have 
 sensitivities or allergies, please do not wear scented or perfumed 
 products. If you have a meditation cushion, please bring it. Chairs will be 
 available. Suitable for beginning and all levels of 
 practitioners.\n\nSarana Kuti is the small stand-along building on the 
 UUFSC property at th rear of the east parking lot. It is behind the Johnson
