DESCRIPTION:Workers Are Standing Up for Respect and Dignity Workers at Richmond Walmart 
 are standing together despite threats and retaliation. In Richmond and 
 across the nation, Walmart workers have been speaking up to demand respect 
 and dignity, as well as on issues like low wages, understaffing and 
 discrimination. Workers have come together to form the Organization United 
 for Respect at Walmart (OUR Walmart).\n\nRichmond Workers Also Facing 
 Racism and Threats of Violence In addition to the illegal retaliation, 
 Walm\nart Associates in Richmond have also experienced racist and 
 threatening comments by Walmart Richmond Manager Art VanRiper. In one case, 
 while an African-American Associate used a rope to move merchandise, Mr. 
 Van Riper insisted, “Leave it up to me, I’d put that rope around your 
 neck.” Subsequently, when a Walmart worker was speaking with members of 
 the news media, Mr. VanRiper threatened to run her over with his car. This 
 type of racism and threats of violence have no place in Richmond. Workers 
 have raised these issues and have filed EEOC charges against Walmart for 
 these incidents. Walmart has not taken any action to remedy the 
 situation.\n\nThe Richmond Community is Standing with Walmart Workers 
 Increasingly, customers and Richmond residents are stepping forward to 
 stand with Walmart workers. They are calling for an end to racist threats 
 and retaliation, accountability for the manager who made them and calling 
 on Walmart to provide ongoing jobs to Associates who worked so hard during 
 the remodel. It's time for the retaliation to end, so come to this local 
 Walmart to show your solidarity and tell Walmart that they need to do their
