DESCRIPTION:The intensifying harassment faced by street performers and homeless people
on Pacific Avenue (and all around the town) is exemplified at
 http://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2012/11/12/18725566.php ("Street Musicians
Navigate a Myriad of City Ordinances in Downtown Santa Cruz").\n\nBriana, a
street musician and Cabrillo Student, will be going to court to challenge
Officer Warren on three citations in trials before the police-friendly
Commissioner Kim Basket.\n\nShe announced her trial at the Red Church meal
today and invited folks to come, asking that they not throw tomatoes or
otherwise add to the bigotry of the judge (well, wannabee judge--she's a
commissioner). \n\nThe trial involves charges of "dog on Pacific Avenue
while offering jewelry for donation", "dog improperly tied" and "not moving
along every hour"--as I understand it, though I'm a little unclear on the
charges.\n\nHer companion, London, has been "ordered off Pacific Avenue",
he reports, by the same Officer Warren and threatened with felonies for
protesting what he (and others) have described as police targeting of
Briana.\n\nBaskett has a wretched record (as do most of the other judges
most of the time). My experiences with her can be found by following the
 links at
