DESCRIPTION:Occupy Forum in the Park with Maria Gilardin & \nChristine Garcia\n\nMonday
October 8th 6 – 9 pm at Bradley Manning Plaza! Occupy Forum in the Park
continues at Justin Herman/Bradley Manning Plaza- Occupy's 2011 protest
camp. We assert our right to have political discourse in the commons.
Information, education, discussion, snacks & community! \n\nR&B gospel
music with Earl & Roy begins at 5:30 \nTopic: The Alarming Effects\nOf the
Corporatization of our Food Supply\n\nTwo speakers on the corporatization
of our food supply will help us understand the poisoning of our food by
Agribusiness through Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and Confined
Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs). Just as we head into a battle for our
food supply in the upcoming election (Prop. 37: The Right to Know what’s
in our Food act), Maria Gilardin, radio broadcaster at KALW and TUC radio,
and authority on corporate global dominance in the areas of food, water,
indigenous rights, banking and more, will expose the shocking story of
corporate control of our food. GMOs are found in 95% of American households
& have alarming effects on human health, air, land, water and ecosystems.
\n\nMaria will be joined by Christine Garcia, who will speak to us about
Confined Animal Feeding Operations. CAFOs contaminate 40 percent of U.S.
drinking water, create 2.7 trillion pounds of waste annually, create
anti-biotic resistant bacteria, & confine billions of sentient animals to
torture warehouses. Christine Garcia, Esq. has successfully defended
animals and animal rights activists from abuse by corporations, government,
and Universities through civil rights, consumer & tort laws for over ten
years. \n\nAll are invited to join in the discussion. \n\n We will have
cushions, blankets to keep you warm, amplified sound, and peacekeepers to
keep it alcohol, interruption, & smoke-free.\n\n
