DESCRIPTION:\nFilm evenings begin with potluck refreshments & social hour at 6:30
pm,\nfollowed by the film at 7:30 pm, followed by a discussion after the
film.\n\nGENETIC ROULETTE: The Gamble of our Lives\nby Jeffrey
Smith\n\nThis groundbreaking film features interviews with farmers,
scientists, physicians, educators, and chefs who explore the dangers of
genetically modified (GM) food. It covers everything from the basic
defining criteria of GM organisms to California Ballot Initiative 37,
coming up for a vote November 6. After two decades, physicians and
scientists have uncovered a grave trend: the same serious health problems
found in lab animals, livestock, and pets that have been fed GM foods are
now on the rise in the U.S. population. And when people and animals stop
eating genetically modified organisms (GMOs), their health improves. This
film examines the significant connection between GM food and the rise of so
many ailments and diseases in animals and people: birth defects, autism,
allergies, tumors, intestinal damage, liver damage, faulty insulin
regulation, infertility, immune problems, changes in major organs and the
gastrointestinal system, accelerated aging, and shortened life spans. In
the wake of these startling findings — that GM crops cause so much damage
to animals and people — it is vital to educate friends and family about
the dangers of GM food.\n\nThe history of GMOs is tainted with all kinds of
corruption and fraud. The findings from several animal studies indicating
serious health risks associated with GM food led some physicians to educate
their patients, the medical community, and the public to avoid GM foods
when possible. Yet the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) claimed they
were unaware of any information that GM food was substantially different
from conventionally grown food — thereby GM food did not need testing and
was safe to eat. The truth of the matter is that scientists certainly did
in fact repeatedly warn the FDA about the health and environmental dangers
of GMOs. Due to political and financial interests, these red flags were
ignored by the U.S. government. This seminal documentary provides
compelling evidence to help explain the deteriorating health of Americans,
especially among children, and offers a solution for protecting our health
and our future.\n\nMichelle Perro will facilitate discussions this evening,

Proposition 37 (labeling GM foods sold in California) in our November
ballots. Vote YES on Proposition 37 on November 6!\n\nWheelchair
