 recovery from a devastating fire that destroyed his home, his personal film 
 archive and the treasured collections he had built over 45 years.\nIn 2008, 
 documentary filmmaker David Hoffman lost nearly everything he 
 owned—-including his huge film and art archive—-in the fire that 
 destroyed his home. Determined to “make something good out of something 
 bad”, Hoffman began to videotape himself as a record for his young sons 
 of what the loss meant to him. He takes us on a tour of his burned property 
 and the result is an inspiring glimpse into his life and times, his 
 distinct way of seeing the world and his remarkable career as a pioneer of 
 documentary filmmaking, featuring stunning clips from many of his unique 
 and important films. Most importantly, Hoffman’s stated philosophy leaves 
 us with an uplifting sense of perseverance and a strong testament to the 
 notion that we all have the capacity to make something good out of
