 to public education is under attack. Across the country, districts are 
 cutting health care and pension benefits, attacking hard-won union rights 
 and trying to tie teacher pay to standardized tests. The Chicago Teachers 
 Strike this week has been a powerful struggle against the tide—following 
 in the footsteps of other teachers, workers and students across the country 
 over the last two years.\n\nEducation is being slashed at every level from 
 pre-school through university. City College of San Francisco, an invaluable 
 public institution with more than 90,000 current students, is threatened by 
 closure. Elementary, middle and high schools are being cut and cut and 
 cut.\n\nWhat can be done to turn this situation around and defend the right 
 to public education for all? Teachers and students will be presenting on 
 the Chicago teachers’ strike, the cuts to education and building a fight
