OPC might facilitate a false leadership over Oakland's working class queers but it is hardly welcoming or representative of poor queers. \n\nIt was only four months ago when Brandy Martel was shot in an anti-trans attack on the corner of 13th and Franklin, just outside of Oakland Pride's perimeters. Unsurprisingly there is not a single mention of her life or death in 2012 Pride program. Oakland Pride Corporation's list of sponsors tells us OPC is more interested in making bank than resisting hetero-supremacy. \n\nOur struggles in Oakland have made it clear that public space belongs to all of us. The plazas, the streets, the libraries, and schools are as free as we want them to be. Pride, a celebration of resistance to the policing of queer bodies and cultures, will not be exempt from our desire for total freedom. The Oakland Pride Corporation is determined to contain queerness within a four block radius for one day per year. We are committed to queering everywhere. This September 2nd Queers Fucking Queers will take the streets of Oakland. We will throw our own Pride without fences, fees, or politicians. Meet us in Snow Park at 5pm. The bank also has evicted thousands of Oakland residents from their homes. Wells Fargo funds immigrant detention centers and private prisons, profiting off of racist immigration policies. \n\nWhole Foods Oakland \nIt is widely known Whole Foods threatened to fire workers for participating in the November 2nd General Strike.\n\nClear Channel\nRight wing media empire\n\nPG&E \nThe negligence of PG&E contributed to the deaths of 8 people, the hospitalization of countless others and the destruction of nearly 40 homes after a pipeline explosion in San Bruno, CA in 2010. Kaplan advocates streamlining the city's permit process to ensure businesses, corporations, and developers invest in “desired locations.” She supports “enforcement actions” against “repeat offenders against blighted property” to remove graffiti and spur gentrification.
