DESCRIPTION:Action Alert\nCalifornia Public Utilities Commission\nSan Onofre OII
 Vote\nThursday – August 2nd – 9:00 AM\n505 Van Ness Ave – San
Francisco\nCPUC Main Auditorium\nThe California Public Utilities Commission
(CPUC) will vote whether to do a special investigation called an OII(Order
Instituting Investigation) for San Onofre on August 2nd at the CPUC’s
headquarters in San Francisco at 9:00 AM during their regular
meeting.\n\nWhat’s at stake couldn’t be more important. The CPUC has
the power to close San onofre on the grounds that it is no longer
economically viable to run. The politically appointed commissioners will
be under immense pressure to allow Southern California Edison (SoCal Ed),
the company that owns San Onofre, to continue with the status quot. In
fact, the chairman of the CPUC, Michael Peevey, also happens to be the
former head of SoCal Ed. There has been major pressure for Peevey to step
down because his role in protecting PG&E from stronger actions as a result
of the 2009 San Bruno gas pipeline explosion. At a minimum he should
either step aside on this issue due to a conflict of interest or vote for
the investigation.\n\nIf you are able to attend, please do so and sign up
to speak. The public is given 3 minutes to speak at the start of the
meeting. Here are the rules for speaking. If you can’t attend please
send an email with your written concerns. Here are the rules for written
comments. Please see below for individual addresses of the commissioners
(note that not all of them can be reached via email).\n\nHere’s the link
to the agenda\n\nContacting the CPUC Commissioners\nThe CPUC which is made
up of several major Divisions. The CPUC Commissioners aren’t interested
in public interaction directly, but request that you send your comments to
the Public Advisor that is supposed to forward your concerns to them. They
assume that the primary means for reaching them is during the Public
Comment session reserved at the beginning of each meeting, which gives each
person 3 minutes to make a comment. (Rules governing Public Comments) How
