DESCRIPTION:What is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights?\n\nSaturday, August 4,
3PM\nSF Library, Main Branch, Hispanic Room\n100 Larkin (betw. Grove &
 Fulton), SF\n# 19, 5, 10, 19, 70 buses, or Civic Center BART\n\n\nThe
Universal Declaration of Human Rights was established in 1948, in the
aftermath of world-wide depression and war. \n\n It asserted people’s
civil rights (freedom of speech, freedom from arbitrary detention, freedom
from discrimination, etc.)\n\nAnd it also asserted people’s rights to the
necessities of life (housing, healthcare, employment, education,
etc.)\n\nIn these times of indefinite detention, targeted assassinations,
racial profil-ing, and police murders, coupled with obscene wealth
alongside growing poverty, and dismantling of the safety net, the Universal
Declaration is more relevant than ever.\n\nSee poster below.\n
