Foundation\n\nDebray "Fly Benzo" Carpenter- Bayview Hunters Point community
activist\n\nShanell Williams- Associated Students president, City College
 San Francisco\n\nDerron Thweatt- International Socialist
Organization\n\nCome to this meeting to talk about how we can build a
movement to stop this extension of the New Jim Crow from coming to San
Francisco.\n\nNo sooner had the Center for Constitutional rights published
its damning report of New York's racist Stop and Frisk program than Mayor
Lee declared that he wants to bring it to San Francisco. Lee denies that it
is a racist policy - but the facts cannot be avoided: 685,724 people were
stopped in NYC in 2011, 84% were Black or Latino - although they make up
only about 52% of the city's population. 88% of all stops did not result in
an arrest or a summons. This daily attack on people of color in New York
fueled a march of thousands in NY against this racist onslaught. \n\nThe
fight-back against Stop and Frisk in San Francisco is building too. Why is
Mayor Lee so intent, in his words, to "get the guns"? The new tech boom
means more gentrification, increasing rents, and a rise in the cost of
living. There has been more than a 50% drop in the city's black population
since the 90s. This city is becoming a place for people with money as the
rest of us are being forced out. Fighting Stop & Frisk is an important step
in declaring that people of color and the working class of San Francisco
have a right to live here! \n
