DESCRIPTION:The groundbreaking Cuban film “In the Wrong Body” (En El Cuerpo
Equivocado) made its United States premiere last November. The 2010
documentary — by Cuban filmmaker Marilyn Solaya — chronicles the story
of Mavi Susel, the first transgender woman to receive a sex reassignment
operation in Cuba in 1988.\n\nMavi’s stigmatization as a youth, the pain
of discrimination and abuse, is common for the transgender community.
Cuba’s revolution has made enormous gains for the people, including free
healthcare and education. Now, in recent years, Cuba is also carrying out a
public campaign against homophobia, and for respect for LGBT diversity. In
Cuba, sex-reassignment operations are free. \n\nThe film is a heartwarming
and inspiring documentary and helps to enlighten viewers of the urgent need
to oppose LGBT oppression and all forms of discrimination. (52 min.,
 Spanish with English subtitles)\n\nWatch the
