DESCRIPTION:Over 1500 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons went on hunger strike this 
 year. They were protesting the Israeli policy of "administrative detention" 
 in which a Palestinian can be held without charge for an indefinite amount 
 of time. \n\nCome learn about the treatment of Palestinian prisoners in the 
 Israeli prison system, the growing nonviolent movement in the West Bank, 
 and the impact of mass incarceration of the Palestinian people. The 
 presentation will be accompanied by a showing of amazing art made by 
 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails whose only supplies were pillow 
 cases and crayons.\n\nUC Santa Cruz Professor Gina Dent will also be giving 
 a presentation on the US prison-industrial complex and her experiences in
