DESCRIPTION:Occupy Da Hood SF has the back of the African working class movement when
it challenges the state! \n\nJoin court support to free Bakari Olatunji
\non Tues, May 8th at 2pm \nat the Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland \nat
7th and Washington, \nDept 112. \n\n(exerpt from INPDUM Oakland website)
 \n\n____________________________________________________\n\nOn Friday, May
4, 2012, \nComrade Bakari Olatunji aka Rickey Clay, \na 20+ year veteran of
the Uhuru Movement, \nwas viciously attacked and arrested by Oakland Police
\nas we attempted to serve the people's subpoeana to the Oakland police
Chief Jordan. \n\nBakari is currently being held for ransom at the
notorious Santa Rita County Jail on $25,000 bail. \nHe has been charged
with California Penal Code 69, a felony \nwhich basically means
"threatening an officer or resisting arrest with force or violence."
\n\nThe struggle began as the Oakland branch of InPDUM held a press
conference in front of the police headquarters in Oakland. \n\nThe purpose
of the press conference at which we announced the Court for Black Justice
and Reparations - scheduled for Sat, May 5 at the Uhuru House. \n\nThrough
the Court for Black Justice, the AFrican community, \nunder the leadership
of INPDUM, \nwill put the Oakland Police Dept on trial for crimes of
colonial genocide against the African community. \n\n\n\nThe press
conference was strategically planned to be held at the same time and
location as the "police-community relations" meeting, \nat the Oakland
Police Headquarters. \nThe plan was to go straight from the press
conference and demonstration to the police event, \nwhere InPDUM organizers
would physically serve the People’s Subpoeana to Police Chief Howard
Jordan, \nwho was expected to be in attendance. \n\n\n\nWhen InPDUM
organizers attempted to enter the building where the meeting was being held
\nwe were immediately blocked from entering the building \nand told that we
were not allowed to go inside. \n\nThis is despite the fact that the police
were allowing people to come and go freely before, during and after our
press conference. \n\nThis revealed to us that the police were only
interested in allowing Africans to the event who were not interested in
criticizing the brutal relationship the police have with the African
community. \n\n\n\nAfter long, heated debate with the police \n– all in
full view of InPDUM supporters and ruling class and independent media,
\nthe police had no choice but to allow us to enter the building. \n\nIt
was either that or be forced to admit \nthat the police is willing to
abrogate our right to free speech \nas a means of avoiding our criticisms
of them. \n\nWhen we entered the building \nPolice Chief Jordan was nowhere
to be found, \nfurther illustrating our point. \n\nAs we searched the room
for Jordan, \nseveral InPDUM organizers, \nincluding President Diop
Olugbala \nand local leader Bakari Olatunji, \nwere immediately attacked by
the pigs and physically removed from the building. \n\nAfter this blatant
attack on our movement and our right to peaceful assembly, \nafter the
police succeeding in ousting us from the building, \nBakari Olatunji then
sustained another attack. \nHe was targeted by the police, \nplaced in
handcuffs and dragged away. \n\n\n\nInPDUM Oakland immediately jumped to
action, \nholding another press conference to sum up the attack \nand
mobilize onlookers to attend the Court for Black Justice. \n\nLater that
evening we held a candlelight vigil \nin honor and memory of all Africans
who were killed at the hands of the OPD. \nDuring the candlelight vigil we
mobilized even more support \nfor the Free Bakari campaign. \n\n\n\nBy
arresting Bakari \nthe police intended to demoralize our forces \nand
discourage us from resisting. \n\nHowever, this attack has only served to
deepen our resolve and will to resist. \n\nWe are currently moving forward
to hold the Court for Black Justice \nand Reparations and struggle for a
People’s Sentence which will, among other things, call for the immediate
release and exoneration of Rickey Clay \naka Bakari Olatunji. \n\n\n\nWHAT
YOU CAN DO : \n\n\n\n1. Fortunately, INPDUM was prepared for the treachery
of the state. \nTherefore we were armed to the teeth with video cameras
\nthat were used to document every second of our work \nduring the press
conference and inside the building. \nWe caught the entire attack and
arrest of Bakari on tape, \nand subsequently were able to produce this
 video . \n\nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxFj1E4lzxU \n\nWe are asking
everyone to forward this video as widely as possible \non all social media
(ie Facebook, Youtube, etc.) \n\n\n\n2. Bakari’s bail has been set for
$25000. \nTherefore we need to raise $2500 to get him out of Santa Rita
County Jail. \nWe are calling on all lovers of freedom and social justice
\nto make a donation to the bail fund \nby looging onto the link below:
 \nhttp://www.wepay.com/donations/free-bakari-a.k.a.-rickey-clay \n\n\n3.
Call the Oakland Police Dept and Chief of Police \ndemanding the immediate
release of Rickey Clay \non the grounds that he is a political prisoner, l
\nocked up only because of his beliefs \n– and NOT because he violated
some law. \nChief of Police: \n510-238-3131 \nOPD Jail Division:
 \n510-238-3455 \n\n\nCaption : Bakari means "Hopeful", \nOlatunji means
 "Honor returns". \nREPARATIONS ! UHURU !\n \n\n\n
