DESCRIPTION:Plastics are like a hidden, daily oil spill - an unending stream of toxic
and non-biodegradable litter entering the world and our bodies. Can
recycling plastics solve the problem of plastic litter, and the poisoning
of the food web? Where are we going with ocean cleanup and product
stewardship? What are the plastics of greatest concern? \n\nJoin Sanjen
Miedzinski, Ph.D. and Beth Terry of Green Sangha to learn about the effects
of litter, how recycling falls short, and what businesses and governments
can do to stop the plague of plastic pollution. \n\nAbout the Presenters
Sanjen Miedzinski focuses on researching, writing and speaking on
environmental issues and in teaching the Diamond Approach, a spiritual
path. She is a former biochemist, psychologist and professor. She has found
a home in Green Sangha which integrates environmental work and spiritual
awareness. In 2007, Beth Terry, a Green Sangha member, started a blog
(www.myplasticfreelife.com) to document her personal journey toward a
plastic-free life. She is also the author of Plastic-Free: How I Kicked the
Plastic Habit and How You Can Too. Her outreach has extended from farmers'
markets to The Clorox Company. Her online campaign, "Take Back the Filter,"
sparked a collaborative program for recycling Brita water filters. This
event is part of "Reuse, Redesign, Restore: a series about Zero
 Waste."\n\nCost: Free\nInfo: 510-548-2220 x233,
