Participants in this three-part project examine identity by re-contextualizing personal, familial, and cultural histories in a contemporary context. By unraveling passed down stories and intertwining personal experience, a new narrative is created. \n\nre:Told will have three components:\n A visual art exhibition;\n A published catalog that will be launched at the exhibit; \n A storytelling event at the close of the exhibition. \n\nArtists, writers, and performers are invited to submit work for inclusion in any or all aspects of the exhibit. \n\nWorks considered for re:Told can be presented in any media, and any works that provoke an examination of this concept on the part of viewers of the exhibition will be considered. The focus is on works that have some narrative element, that examine family history or cultural identity, and/or draw elements from the past into a contemporary dialogue. \n\nCurators will be selecting from the pool of applicants to participate in one or more of the project’s components: exhibition, and/or storytelling event, and/or catalog.
