DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the legacy of César Chávez is not about nostalgia. The issues 
 he devoted his life to are still very much with us. In California and the 
 rest of the United States, no one works harder and is paid more poorly than 
 farmworkers. It remains important to commemorate the life and work of 
 César Chávez and highlight the continuing struggles he supported. 
 \n\nJoin us for a free day of arts performances, speakers, live music, and 
 activism at the Berkeley Farmers' Market.  \n\nPerformers and Presenters: 
 (In order of appearance)\n\nRafael Jesús González - Poet, Artist & 
 Professor Emeritus\n\nJoy Moore - Edible Educator, KPFA producer, founder 
 of the Ecology Center's Farm Fresh Choice program. \n\nCuauhtli Mitotiani 
 Mexica - Aztec Dance youth troupe, directed by Adriana Betti \n\nQuenepas - 
 Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena music and dance youth ensemble. Bomba 
 originated in sugar plantations of Puerto Rico over 300 years ago. \n\nYeYe 
 - Latin American Afro-fusion band led by vocalist Johanna "YeYe" Suarez 
 weaving traditional dance and music with original poetry.

 harmony, address historical and modern grievances, and explore and develop 
 leadership and community skills through arts and cultural expression.
