 This plan to develop upper campus and expand the university nearly double 
 its size will have huge effects upon the biodiversity of the area as well 
 as put a huge strain upon Santa Cruz’s already scarce fresh water

 Campus”?\nThis Is Going To Be Decided on Wednesday, March 7th\n\nOn 
 Wednesday, March 7th, the Santa Cruz County Local Agency Formation 
 Commission (LAFCO) will decide whether or not to allow the City of Santa 
 Cruz to extend its scarce water supplies to serve the currently unserved 
 “North Campus” area at UCSC.\n\nIf the answer is “Yes,” the 
 University will build 3,000,000 square feet of new buildings on what has 
 been a “natural reserve.” 240 acres of timberlands and habitat will be 
 paved over. The University has asked for 152 million gallons of water per 
 year to serve this new development. LAFCO may seek to require a “water 
 neutral” form of development, but if LAFCO says “Yes” to an extension 
 of water service, the 3,000,000 square feet of new buildings will be 
 constructed.\n\nThe LAFCO meeting will be held in the Board of 
 Supervisors’ Chambers, located on the 5th Floor of the County 
 Governmental Center, located at 701 Ocean Street in Santa Cruz (Ocean and
