DESCRIPTION:Overcoming Racism: A Radical Approach\n\nIs racial conflict inevitable in a
multi-racial society? Or is it the product of social and economic
conditions—past and present—that can be understood and
reversed?\n\nThis two-part class will use works by writers of color,
feminists and radicals to explore these questions and the important
leadership role of people of color in all the social justice movements. The
challenges and rewards of organizing across color lines as well as various
political approaches to accomplishing this will be discussed.\n\nTonight's
discussion focuses on "Has racism always existed? The truth can set us
free"--The origins of racist ideology in the rise of capitalism and the
desire for cheap labor and "free" land--all of which led to Black
enslavement and the genocide of the indigenous people of the
Americas.\n\n$2 donation requested per session. Reading materials available
 at a nominal cost.\n\nSnacks available at 6:30pm for a $6
donation.\n\nPublic class runs on Tuesdays, March 13-May 8 (no meeting on
 May 1).\n\nVisit http://www.radicalwomen.org and http://www.socialism.com
 for more information\n\n\n\n\n
