DESCRIPTION:\n\nOAKLAND GREENS OPEN MEETING\nProduced by Don Macleay and Vicente Cruz
II\n\nCome and discuss Oakland’s future in an open forum! This meeting
is an open meeting to discuss the proposal to initiate an Oakland
Progressive Alliance. The public is invited to come and discuss our
City’s future. The forum is intended to facilitate discussion. The
proposal is to initiate a progressive alliance in time for the City of
Oakland elections for 2012. Four candidates for City of Oakland Council
and School Board seats have already declared themselves:\n\nDon
 Macleay\nCandidate for Council — District 1\n\nVincente Cruz \nCandidate
for Oakland Unified School Board — District 3\n\nRandy
 Menjivar\nCandidate for Council — District 7\n\nTheresa
Anderson\nCandidate for Council — At Large\n\nAll four candidates will be
present to discuss their shared vision for our City. They offer
alternatives in Oakland’s local elections of November 2012. They will
also be making a call to like-minded progressives in the community to
discuss making a common cause. This includes an invitation to the public
in general and other independent progressive organizations. It’s high
time to gather and discuss the future of the City of Oakland. Also present
in the open forum will be:\n\nAndrea Pritchett\nCopWatch\n\nWilson
 Riles\nOakland Community Action Network\n\nLaura Wells\nCalifornia Greens
Party\n\nLarry Shoup and Shawn McDougal\nCommunity Democracy
Project\n\nOakland is in crisis in its youth, in its schools, in its
government. An active, progressive leadership is needed. The Oakland
Greens are proposing a platform based on the personal ethics and
independence of the individual candidates coupled with a commitment to
reform Oakland’s institutions, especially its budget, its Council, and
its law enforcement. The Oakland Greens offer their efforts to the
community and make this proposal for an Oakland Progressive Alliance to the
community. They believe very strongly that a full slate of candidates, a
program that covers the issues well, and a political alternative that can
guide our City in a much needed new direction will come from the whole
community. This is an invitation to join, to lead, to mold, and to run for
office. All individuals and organizations welcome!\n\nThe forum discussions
begins at 6:00 pm and at 8:00 pm — enjoy a pot luck dinner to facilitate
continuing discussions!\n\nWheelchair accessible around the corner at 411
 28th Street\n\nDonations are accepted\n
