DESCRIPTION:Thursday, February 16, 2012 - 6:30pm - 8:30pm\n\nIf you choose cage-free
eggs, it's probably because you want them to come from hens that get
outdoors. More often than not, those hens may be technically "cage-free,"
but their home is a far cry from the picture on the carton. Egg eaters in
search of an honest dozen are better off with the "pasture-raised" label.
Join CUESA for a discussion with Douglas Gayeton, creator of The Lexicon of
Sustainability, a series of "information art" photo collages that teach the
vocabulary of sustainable agriculture. Joining the conversation will be two
Ferry Plaza farmers who offer pastured eggs: Marin Sun Farms owner David
Evans and Charlie Sowell of Rolling Oaks Ranch. The event will include a
screening of "The Story of an Egg," one of 24 short films that will
supplement the Lexicon.\n\nThis panel discussion, sponsored by the Center
for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture, will take place at the
Ferry Building. The discussion goes from 6:30 until 8:00. A reception with
farmers market refreshments will follow.\n\n###\n\n[*Editorial Note: Thank
you for posting your event to the Indybay Calendar. Please do not leave off
information about the price of admission, or in this case, request for a
donation:\n"A $5 donation will be requested at the door (no one turned
away)."\n\nEVENT PUBLISHING POLICY: "It is preferable if events are free,
"no one turned away for lack of funds," or at most require a small fee or
donation. If there is a charge for admission, the price should be stated in
the text of the post. Calendar submissions that do not meet these criteria
 may be hidden."\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2012/02/03/18706518.php
